By Lurnay Tshabalala-Mavuso | Entertainment | 11 December 2022 AFTER giving the viewers an astounding performance through the character of Asanda Ndungange on Diepcity channel 161 Mzansi Magic, Zikhona Bali one of the country's best performers exits the show in a tragic incident, one that many would say it's a "Heist Gone Wrong", shots were fired at Asanda right after she and her squad - The Wrong turns, were nearly successful with the heist. On the Thursday episode the episode ended with Asanda being shot at by one of the guards guarding the money van, and on the Friday episode Asanda was then presumed dead at a hospital, after her friends, Nox (Nozuko Ntshangase), Snenhlanhla (Nompumelelo Vilakazi) and Lerato (Kgaogelo Monama), tried to save her life by resuscitating her. THE QUESTION IS NOT WILL YOU BE VOTING IN 2024, BUT WHO WILL YOU BE VOTING FOR IN 2024?

By Lurnay Tshabalala-Mavuso | 08 Nov | Politics As South Africans we are very much exhausted of having to hope for a better and inclusive country that has been promised to us for a very long time. The hope has been slowly dying and at this point in time we are playing a game of ping-pong, only having thought that whether we win or the opponent wins, we will see when whatever happens. Even saying and uttering those words makes us even worry even more because we don't know what lies ahead of us when and if a different party is to lead and take reign over South Africa. That makes us afraid! Currently, we are battling with so many injustices by our government systems and officials, our people have been promised better and sustainable lives and great service delivery, and all this happens when our campaigning politicians are looking and begging for our votes using emotional manupilation, making our people entrust them with their lives enough to give them votes, in light of h

ZIKHONA BALI aka ASANDA NDUNGANE ON MZANSI MAGIC'S TV DRAMA 'DIEPCITY' - A FORCE TO BE CELEBRATED.

[picture source : IMDb] By Lurnay Tshabalala-Mavuso | 04 November 2022 ZIKHONA BALI, A South African born Actress and a very talented creative. My fellow readers I'm pretty much sure that you all know her from Mzansi Magic's TV drama - Diepcity on channel 161 DSTV which airs every Monday to Friday at 20h30. I'm pretty sure we can all agree that Zikhona is a phenomenal actress who plays her role very well. I am currently taken by the shift in her role as she is now playing a drug-addicted pastor's wife. I have to mention that she is killing the role and she is doing so with all her being. She is definitely a reflection of her second name Bali, which is a Xhosa word for 'Story', she is a Storyteller indeed. I love how she portrays the character making shift from being a sweet, God-fearing and caring partner and friend to a drug-addict. I love how she is dressed in this role and how she tells the stories of so many black young women who end up in the li

EXAM SEASON IS HERE... ARE YOU FINDING IT HARD TO STUDY?

Image
By Lurnay Tshabalala-Mavuso | 04 November 2022 I'M sure we can all agree as students that studying can be a bit challenging or even a whole lot more challenging. We find ourselves being compelled to look at a book for hours or sometimes even page that book for hours not really knowing what you can do to process the information that you need to know for your exam paper. Studying can be a lot easier when one knows how to do it and also when one knows which ways or tools/methods to use when studying. With me here I have a few tips that have been working for me, which I think would work for you too. 1. GATHER ALL YOUR TOOLS This means that you need to gather all the books, notepads, pens and the rest of your stationery together and have them in one place, a place where you can easily reach without having to move from your study place to get something and only come back to losing what you were already trying to process and comprehend. 2. FIND A COMFORTABLE PLACE TO STUDY AT

HOW TO INITIATE 'THE TALK' BETWEEN YOU AND YOUR QUEER CHILD.

Image
By Lurnay Tshabalala-Mavuso | 03 November 2022 I totally agree that being a parent to a queer child is not easy at all, let alone being a parent. I say this as a queer child who was raised from a family that did well with raising me, even though I never came out (not that there was a need for me to), I never came out because I didn't know who and what I was but the society decided for me and chose to categorize me under a banner that they saw fit for them to put me and at the same time use to ostracize me. What I noticed is that my elders found it challenging to talk to me especially when I reached my pre-teen years and my teenage years (which now have passed). They have had times where they didn't know how to talk to me about sex and how to initiate the conversation. However my mother has always been an open-minded person and so were my late grandmothers. They used media a lot to start conversations with me that they found to be challenging.  Which is not really wh

THE USE OF SEX AS A TOOL OF PATRIARCHY TOWARDS WOMEN & FEMININE QUEER BODIES

Image
[picture source :google healthline] By Lurnay Tshabalala-Mavuso | 02 Nov 2022  First of all sex is a very beautiful and lovely thing that is supposed to bring two people together and join them in pleasure, health, fun and love in some cases. However it is very much worrying and emotionally daunting when looking at how sex is today. Sex today is used to make women and feminine queer people to submit and grovel to men who are "societally" perceived as the owners of sex because they are the ones that penetrate.  This has caused a lot of havoc in so many relationships and marriages because, women and feminine queer people are made to feel ashamed of being sexual beings, more especially ashamed of being the ones to initiate sexual encounters with their partners. This opens a huge hole of issues in not only the relationship but in the psyche of the woman and femine queer person, because they in most cases end up with self-esteem issues, Mental health issues involving bo
