Faced with the difficulties and challenges of marriage, Kea , her sister Mapula and her best friend, Lerato navigate their ways into being successful career women who are married to men with different characters and statures.  A creation by Mmamitse Thibedi and Thembakuye Madlala graces our screens with a gripping telenovela that has kept viewers talking on social media. Nyala O premiered in July and has since caught the attention of many viewers who cannot stop sharing and raving about the creation of what is one of the best telenovelas in the history of South African television.

Produced by Origins Pictures, the telenovela stars one of SA's talented actors, Mapaseka Koetle (Kea) , Motlatsi Mafatshe (Rhami), Tsholofelo Matshaba (Mapula), Aubrey Mmakola (Ernest), Cindy Mahlangu (Lerato) and Unathi Mkhize (Mondli). The show gives us the journey of three successful married women and the challenges that they face in their marriages while having to keep up with being career and goal-driven. With Rhami's imperfections and decisions, Kea is faced with having to choose between being a good wife/mother and a woman of standards. She finds her self conflicted as her personal values and beliefs are tested especially as a woman who does not believe in divorce.

Meanwhile, Mapula is out there securing the bag. Her faithfulness to her husband is tested by the love of money, flashy cars, lavish living and expensive gifts. She finds herself at a point where her conscience is beating her with regards to the risky decisions that she has made in her career which also seem to be affecting her marriage with Ernest. On the other hand, Lerato finds herself drowning in a marriage that seems to be one-sided in her view. Married to a popular former soccer star, Mondli 'The Terminator', who has fallen from the sky through an injury that costed him his entire career. Mondli is an unemployed husband still attached to his fame that he doesn't even notice that the love of his life is falling out of love with him because of pride and no willingness to make means to make the marriage work.

Nyala O gives us a clear view of what marriage looks like. That an anniversary celebration may carry all the glitz and glamour that money can buy, but marriage requires values and principles that only good morality can bring. This is a telenovela that is worth watching and that I believe sets to be a good teaching for those who aspire to get married and to those who are already married. One may think that this is just all acting and entertainment, but in actual fact this is a teaching based on reality. No writer can write something without the purpose of leaving a moral lesson after a story. So watch with the eyes of learning than that of being entertained.

My duty as an entertainment writer is not to spill all the beans, but to encourage and entice you with my writing so that you go and watch for yourselves. So this is me telling you that do not miss out at all, Nyala O is indeed a must-watch telenovela that will entertain, educate and inform you on so many things that happen in our daily lives. So my friend, Don't Miss Out!!!

Catch Nyala O, Mondays to Wednesdays at 19h00 pm on MzansiMagic or binge-watch from the first Episode on DstvCatchup and DstvStream App.
